COST & BEAM OPTIONS
An informed scope.
A clearer investment.
There is no single price for removing a load-bearing wall. The right estimate starts with the structure, the opening, and the finish you want.

WHAT AFFECTS THE ESTIMATE
01
The opening and the loads
The span and what the structure supports influence the beam, connections, posts, and supporting structure. Similar-looking rooms may need different solutions.
02
Access and existing conditions
Material handling, working room, concealed conditions, foundation requirements, and the location of the opening all affect the scope.
03
Utilities and approvals
Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC within the wall may need relocation. Engineering, permits, and required inspections are part of the planning conversation.
04
Finishes and integration
A flush ceiling, new lighting, flooring continuity, and paint or trim matching can change the work beyond the structural opening. Define those expectations early.
MATERIALS, EXPLAINED
The right beam
for your home.
01
Steel
Steel can be considered where structural demands and available depth make it appropriate. Fabrication, connection design, handling, and integration into the framing are part of the specification.
02
LVL · Laminated veneer lumber
An engineered wood product made from bonded wood veneers. Its suitability, size, and installation details depend on the project’s structural design.
03
PSL · Parallel strand lumber
An engineered wood product made from aligned strands. It is one possible option for structural members where the design and application support it.
04
Glulam · Glued laminated timber
A structural timber product formed from bonded laminations. It may be considered for suitable applications, with dimensions and connection details determined by design.
Material choice is not a shopping list decision. A qualified professional specifies the beam and its support system for the actual loads and conditions. We cannot promise a recessed beam in every home.
