FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Good questions.
Clearer possibilities.

Practical answers to help you take the next step toward a more open home.

Can the wall in my home be removed? +

Often there are possibilities, but a site-specific assessment comes first. Loads, framing direction, the foundation, utilities, and the proposed opening all influence the solution. We evaluate the home before recommending a scope.

Will I have a visible beam? +

Our design preference is a clean, continuous ceiling wherever the structure allows it. Recessed beams depend on available cavity depth, load requirements, connections, and the surrounding framing. We discuss feasible options before construction.

Do I need engineering and permits? +

Load-bearing wall removal changes the way a building carries weight. Structural evaluation and any required engineering, approvals, permits, and inspections are addressed for the project and local jurisdiction.

How much does wall removal cost? +

The opening size is only one factor. Beam material, loads, access, foundation or support work, utilities, engineering, permits, and the finish scope can all affect the price. A tailored scope gives you a more useful estimate than a generic square-foot number.

How disruptive is the work? +

Structural work creates noise and dust and may temporarily limit access to parts of the home. Protection, access, utility interruptions, and the work sequence should be discussed before the project begins.

Can I remove the wall myself? +

A wall can carry loads that are not obvious from the room below. Removing it without a properly planned support system can damage the structure and create serious hazards. Have qualified professionals assess and carry out the work.

Do you finish the ceiling and floor? +

We provide a complete solution from design through finish work. The agreed scope identifies drywall, paint, trim, flooring transitions, and any material-matching limitations so the final result is planned from the beginning.

Do you work with general contractors? +

Yes. Alongside homeowner projects, Remove My Walls can provide specialist wall-removal work for general contractors. Contact us with the project location, drawings if available, and the structural scope.

Where do you work? +

Our primary area is Central Texas: Austin, San Antonio, and the Texas Hill Country. Dallas and Houston projects can be considered individually.

What should I prepare for a consultation? +

Start with your project city or ZIP, a brief description of the rooms, and your goals. Existing plans and photographs can be helpful if you have them; they do not replace an on-site structural assessment.

How long will my project take? +

Timing depends on design and engineering, approvals, material availability, site access, utilities, and finishing. We discuss the sequence and expected schedule after the scope is understood.

Is the consultation free? +

Yes. Contact us to request a free consultation. Sending an inquiry does not book an appointment automatically; our team will coordinate the next step with you.
